#10 Build Coalition

Build coalition
One of the first things I did after being elected as district Sunday school director was to go to Sister Tenney and ask her advice on how to “handle” Brother Tenney and the district board. The main things I recall her saying was that I should apprise Brother Tenney of any significant things coming before the board, not to catch him off guard with surprises, that I should be well prepared and that I should build coalition among presbyters before presenting significant things to the board.
If I were to bring matters of significance before the board I would run some things by Brother Tenney and some of the presbyters and get their feelings about the matter. If they were predisposed to be against it there was not much use presenting to the board. But if they were favorable to it you had allies on the board.
