When and how much time should a pastor spend in prayer each day?
Needless to say prayer is an essential part of the pastor’s life. If possible, it is best to work prayer into your schedule; otherwise you may get caught up with your responsibilities and not get to it. The same is true for fasting; put it in the schedule.
Many people have suggested that a pastor pray at least an hour a day and that they pray early in the morning. While there may be some biblical precedent for this, and may be a good idea, it is probably not correct to say that every preacher has to do it this way.
It may also depend on your lifestyle. For example, a pastor may hold job outside the church that may dictate the times he can pray and study.
It may also be best to pray in accordance with your sleep patterns. Morning prayer works for some while daytime, or even night time, is best for others. Many people feel, and not without merit that a preacher should pray early in the day to seek Gods direction and anointing for the day ahead.
Some suggestions:
The first thing a preacher has to do is satisfy his conscience with God.
Set aside a time and place that best suits your lifestyle and circumstances.
It is necessary that he set an example of prayer for the congregation.
