What can the local church do to strengthen the marriages and families within the church?

It is important for every church to focus on the needs and challenges of family life. This starts before marriage. When a pastor agrees to perform the ceremony of a couple he should, in most cases, require that the couple agree to premarital counseling.
The church should have marriage seminars where the pastor and other people, who are qualified, speak to certain issues. Occasionally a church should have services in which the focus is on the family. God can do a lot of work in a couple’s marriage when they are in an atmosphere where the Spirit of God moves.
If possible encourage your men and women to attend conferences outside the local church where they can be challenged to have a stronger commitment to marriage and family. Sometimes a voice, other than the pastor, is helpful.
A pastor can recommend specific Scripture readings and other books that deal with marriage and family issues.
It is good to have ministry (and social) connections for all members of the where so individual needs can be ministered to on an individual basis. Quality youth and children’s ministry programs are important.
